AGF delivers carbon and environmental assessments for events and venues operating in increasingly scrutinised sustainability environments. Flowmoco partnered with AGF to replace a complex Google Sheets-driven system with a structured, web-based assessment platform featuring revision control, role-based access, and a scalable data architecture.

The Challenge
AGF's assessment framework was sophisticated. It included layered structures of assessments, sections, subsections, grouped and ungrouped questions, and evolving revision histories. However, this complexity was managed through interconnected spreadsheets that were externally exposed to clients.
Over time, spreadsheet sprawl created operational friction. Version control became difficult. Formula logic grew opaque. Access permissions were limited. Client experience felt administrative rather than professional.
As sustainability reporting becomes more scrutinised, professional credibility requires more than spreadsheet coordination. AGF required a system that reflected the rigour of its methodology.
The Solution
A structured web-based assessment engine was designed to replicate and enhance the existing framework while introducing governance from the outset.
A revision-controlled data model was implemented to track assessment updates over time. Role-based authentication ensured that administrators, assessors, and clients had appropriate levels of access and visibility. A dedicated formula execution layer replicated complex spreadsheet calculations within a governed application environment.
A customer-facing portal was developed to enable structured data submission, while a management interface provided CRM-style oversight for internal teams. A GraphQL data layer supported structured querying and scalability across assessments.
The architecture was deployed in a secure cloud environment to support reliability, auditability, and long-term expansion.
The Impact
The client interface was professionalised, improving perception and reinforcing methodological credibility. Operational efficiency increased as manual reconciliation and version confusion were reduced. Dependency on sprawling spreadsheets was materially decreased.
Most importantly, AGF gained a scalable foundation capable of supporting accreditation ambitions and future product evolution without structural redesign.
